Every young person needs good career guidance to make informed decisions about their future. Good career guidance is vital so that young people are better equipped to take their next step.

Here at Weston Secondary we follow the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance which is the foundation to our Careers Programme. The benchmarks include:

  2. Learning from career and labour market information
  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5. Encounters with employers and employees
  6. Experiences of workplaces
  7. Encounters with further and higher education
  8. Personal guidance

We recognise that every young person should have the opportunity to explore and learn about the full range of learning providers. As part of our commitment to provide our students with a full range of experiences we work in collaboration with many providers to maximise their opportunities to engage with work, training and education to expand their view of the working world.

Our Careers Provider Access Statement is our arrangement for managing the access of providers to students at the school for the purpose of giving them information about the provider’s education or training offer. This complies with the school’s legal obligation under section 42B of the Education Act 1997.
