School Uniform

At Weston Secondary school we strive to create an environment in which our students can thrive. School uniform plays a vital role in promoting pride, self-confidence, and a feeling of belonging within the student body.

Research has shown that school uniform can also help to improve learning by reducing distraction and making the classroom a more focussed environment.

WSS Uniform is available from Wearabouts in Woolston, or we stock a small number of items at school in the WSS Acorn Community Hub.

Hub Uniform Support

We support our students with their uniform at WSS by running an exchange service from the WSS Acorn Community Hub. This allows our students to swap a personal item for the item of uniform they have forgotten. This has proved successful to date as it allows students to be in school looking smart every day.

WSS Uniform List

·         Jumper

·         WSS Tie

·         White shirt – Button up shirt (short or long sleeves)

·         Black trousers or box pleat knee length skirt.

·         Black socks

·         Black shoes – Trainers, boots and heels are not permitted

P.E/Dance Uniform

·         WSS Polo shirt

·         WSS Shorts/Skorts or Leggings (Plain black or navy shorts are allowed as an alternative

Jewellery

Here are the academy’s rules on jewellery:

  • Rings: students are not permitted to wear one any rings.
  • Wrist wear: students are permitted to wear a watch but no other wrist wear is allowed.
  • Earrings: one gold or silver stud in each ear lobe. These must be removed for PE lessons.
  • Piercings: no other piercings are allowed in school.

Things that are not permitted

Students should not wear or bring the following things into school:

  • Facial and body piercings
  • Nail varnish, false nails or excessive make up
  • Unnatural hair colours or extreme cuts
  • Sports/fashionable trainers or pumps with logos
  • Hoodies, sports jackets or cardigans
  • Hats or caps
  • Short trousers, leggings, jeans or skin tight trousers
  • Electronic devices and headphones for use during the school day

Mobile phones

The school rules on mobile phones are that they:

  • Must be switched off when entering the school gate.
  • Must not be used during the school day. This includes break times.
  • Must be out of sight in bags, not pockets.
  • Must remain switched off until students leave the school site.

The easiest way for you to purchase these items is through your child’s Scopay account. Once you have made the payment please ask you child to collect the receipt from the finance office so that they can obtain the item from the relevant department.

If you do not have a Scopay account set up for your child please contact finance@westonsecondary.co.uk for a copy of your child’s online access letter.

Please note that we do not keep money on the school premises therefore we are unable to give change for any payments made in cash so if you are unable to pay online please send your child in with the correct amount.
