Festival of Languages

By Blog

Last week we celebrated for the second year, the Festival of Languages which saw a number of Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 pupils engaging in a variety of French and Spanish games, quizzes, music, dance and food tasting. The highlight of the Festival was, of course, the chance to create their own rap song which they loved singing to the group. We cannot wait for next year’s Festival fun!

We were pleased to welcome motivational speaker Luke Staton, who spent time with students from years 9, 10, and 11. His visit aimed to inspire our young people to cultivate self-belief and confidence in pursuing their dreams.

Students were able to listen to motivational stories and reflect upon themselves with a view of thinking positively and creatively about their futures.

World Book Day

By Blog

To celebrate World Book Day, our students and staff dressed up as their favourite book characters. Students had two days filled with fun activities including mystery book lucky dips, masked readers, and a book swap station. We also had prizes for the best costumes in each year group, along with a reading festival.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this event to celebrate the joy of reading.

Premier League’s Inspires Challenge

By Blog

To celebrate their success in the Premier league’s Inspires Challenge. Reece, Kuba and Mati were invited to visit Staplewood training complex to unveil their social action project. With a focus on mental health, the boys designed a ‘buddy bench’ to create a mentally healthy environment. After impressing a panel at St Mary’s Stadium, including a former Saints player and Saints Foundation ambassador, the idea was brought to life at the training ground. Under glorious sunshine, they saw their vision realised and enjoyed an exclusive tour while teams trained around them. A fantastic day for all involved!
Congratulations to the boys on their excellent achievement.

National Apprenticeship Week

By Blog

Apprentices from Southampton City Council delivered a workshop to a group of Year 10 students and gave a real-life insight about work and study. As well as the career and employability benefits. Students had the opportunity to listen and ask questions.
In support of National Apprenticeship week, students have also taken part in tutor and PSHE lessons developing their awareness and understanding of apprenticeships so that they are better placed to make informed decisions about their career pathway in the future.
