023 8044 7820Work experience at Weston Secondary School aims to provide our young people with an immersive experience in the routines of employment gaining invaluable knowledge and skills. This provides them with the opportunity to use and develop many interpersonal and employability skills which without doubt will serve them well as they plan for post-16 choices in 2026.
Work experience takes place in the Summer Term between Monday 30th June to Friday 4th July.
By providing our students with the opportunity to take part in work experience we are:
- Helping them discover a sense of their own skills, talents, interests and aspirations within the context of work
- Providing first-hand experience of typical working conditions, including health and safety, employer expectations and the rights and responsibilities of both employers and employees
- Enabling them to develop an understanding of why public and private organisations are important for the wealth and welfare of the country and to discover how they are organised
- Providing insight into the changing nature of work; and the current and prospective local labour market situation
- Enabling them to gain an understanding of adult working relationships and to develop a sense of responsibility
