Geography is an exciting subject because it is always changing. Our students study geography so that they can explore the world as our home and make sense of our surroundings. Geography enables us to challenge our views and justify our decisions using evidence. We show empathy and understand the lived experiences of other people in our global community.

We have a range of enrichment geography fieldwork experiences designed to elevate their classroom learning. These include:

  • Year 8 visit to the New Forest National Park, where students work with the park’s education team. Equipped with their wellies, students conduct hands‑on river studies, applying key geographical skills in a real‑world environment.
  • Year 9 enhance their understanding of ecosystems through an educational visit to Marwell Zoo, exploring a wide range of habitats and conservation initiatives.
  • Year 10 and Year 11 complete essential fieldwork required for their GCSE coursework.

Key Stage Three

Our Key Stage 3 curriculum is varied and bespoke to meet the needs of our students. It encourages us all to ask questions about the world we live in. Including:

  • Our place in the world – are we Global Citizens?
  • How can we build a better future?
  • What are the biggest challenges in Global cities
  • Weather and climate – Why is our climate changing? Why does the UK have such varied weather?
  • Why do some rivers flood?
  • What is the most dangerous natural hazard?

Key Stage Four

Key Stage 4, GCSE Geography is a very popular option subject. We follow the Eduqas B Geography GCSE specification:

  • Changing Physical and Human Landscapes – Study of coasts, rivers, and urban environments.
  • Environmental and Development Issues – Exploring global climate change, natural hazards, and the challenges of development
  • Applied Fieldwork – A practical element where students will conduct fieldwork investigations and apply their findings to real-world geographical issues.
