Drama at Weston Secondary School offers students a creative, supportive and ambitious environment in which to grow in confidence, communication and self-expression. Through practical lessons focused on performance, collaboration and reflection, students develop key life skills such as teamwork, empathy, resilience and leadership. Drama also students’ personal development and wellbeing, helping them to become confident, articulate and independent learners, while equipping them with transferable skills that prepare them for further study, employment and life beyond school.
Key Stage Three
From Key Stage 3, students explore a wide range of theatre styles, texts and contemporary issues, learning how to devise original work, interpret scripts and appreciate live performance while developing their confidence in speaking, presenting and sharing ideas respectfully.
Key Stage Four
At Key Stage 4, students can choose to study GCSE Drama, where they deepen their understanding of theatre through performance, design and critical engagement with both scripted and live theatre. Students are able to tailor their pathway by specialising in performance, design, or a combination of both, exploring roles such as actor, director and designer. Through practical workshops, rehearsals and public performances, students develop creativity, discipline and reflective skills that mirror professional theatre practice.
